"We foster an ethos of leadership through the school by providing a variety of opportunities for our students to set an example to others and have a positive impact in the community."
The Secondary school at Horizon International School is an exciting place to be. Whether students join us in Year 7 or in Year 12 for the 6th Form, we have a warm welcome with plenty to stretch and challenge the mind and body. We are ambitious for our students in their acquisition of qualifications and life skills that will guide them into adulthood. We believe that the holistic development of all our students through meaningful learning experiences will prepare them for a happy and positive future. Students are challenged and supported by our team of skilled teachers to meet and surpass their potential.
Our curriculum provides a connected learning journey from Year 7 to Year 13. We believe that integrating a skills-based curriculum with a range of high quality learning experiences is the most effective approach to prepare a young person growing up in the 21st Century.
At Key Stage 3, students study a broad range of subjects including mathematics, science, English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Art, Design, Technology, Drama, Dance, Music, History, Geography, Physical Education, U.A.E Social Studies and PHSE.
In Year 9, students begin to specialise in preparation for GCSEs, spending more time on chosen subjects they love. In addition they are able to experience new subjects such as psychology, sociology, media studies, business studies and economics.
In Year 10, the GCSE programme starts and students select up to four options alongside their core of English language, English literature, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, physical education and modern foreign languages, giving them an opportunity to achieve up to 11 GCSEs.
